How To Read This List

Animals are listed under the zone where they spawn, in progression order — that matches how the game's spawn tables actually work: your throw's landing spot picks the zone, your food picks the pool, and the back third of each zone holds its top ranks. Counts here reflect third-party tracked rosters (about 148 animals after the October 2026 updates); the in-game count shifts as updates add species. For income rankings, see the tier list; this page is the map, that page is the leaderboard.

Collection Strategy: Index vs. Income

The Animal Index pays biome completion rewards, and the temptation to chase a full Forest set in hour three is real — resist it. Index rewards are one-time cash bonuses, while zone progression compounds: every step deeper raises what every future catch earns. The efficient pattern is opportunistic collecting — your hunts for better earners naturally fill lower-zone Index entries over time, and completion rewards arrive free as you push forward. Deliberate Index grinding only makes sense at two moments: when a biome's last missing species shares a spawn pool you're farming anyway, or when you're waiting on a training wall to break.

One more collection-adjacent note: the game's freebie system lives in the shop's Free Item row (the Hyena being the classic grab), and when the developers eventually add a code system, free animals will likely flow through that too — the codes page tracks that status daily. Between updates, the fastest way to a better roster is always the same: deeper throws, better food, luckier rolls.

Using This List For Hunts

Turn the map into a plan with three questions. Which species am I missing for my current zone's Index? — check its zone card above, confirm your food tier opens its pool, then hunt the back third during a luck window. Which species is my next income upgrade? — read the tier list, find the cheapest earner above your current slots, and note its zone; that's your next farming destination once reach allows. What should I never sell? — anything with a variant tag (Rainbow, Giant, INFINITE, Gold), because the mutation math can multiply even a common species past a plain deep-zone catch. Three questions, thirty seconds, and the list stops being a wall of names and becomes a hunting plan.

One last orientation note for new players overwhelmed by the roster: you don't need most of this page. The early game needs exactly three animals — whatever your carrot catches, the free Hyena, and the first Savanna-tier upgrade your food can pull. The list matters as you climb, and it will still be here, updated, when you need the middle of it. Games like this reward players who read ahead; they punish players who try to hold all hundred-plus names at once. Hunt the zone you're in; consult the map for the zone you're entering.

FAQ

How many animals are in Throw Food For Animals?
Launch guides documented 128 animals, and trackers updated after the October 2026 Halloween Update and new maps count roughly 148. The roster grows with nearly every weekly update — this page tracks every animal that third-party databases have verified, organized by zone rather than a flat list, because zone is how the game's spawn tables actually work.
What is the Animal Index?
The Animal Index is the in-game collection tracker, accessible via its left-side button. It records every species you've caught per biome, and completing a biome's set pays a one-time cash reward. Treat it as a long-term collection goal — the rewards are nice but slower than pushing forward, since deeper zones simply earn more.
Which animals should a new player target first?
Claim the free Hyena from the shop's Free Item row first ($200/s beats everything early). Then target whatever your current food tier attracts in your deepest consistent zone — progression comes from depth, not from hunting specific species. The Savanna's Zebra and the Desert's Jackal are classic early upgrades over Forest starters.
Do duplicate animals serve any purpose?
No — duplicates are pure sell value. Since only ten animals earn at once and each species just needs one Index entry, extra copies convert to cash (roughly 20x income per second per community testing). Sell duplicates the moment they arrive unless a copy carries a better mutation or size variant.
Where can I see which animals earn the most?
Our tier list ranks every tracked animal by income per second — from the Waste Harvester's $410Dd/s down to the Forest starters. Within this page, zone order approximates the income ladder: each zone further out earns more than the last, and the Nuclear Wasteland's roster sits at the top.
Why do some animals have no income listed?
Third-party databases verified those species' existence and zone but not their exact base income — usually because they're recent additions or uncommon spawns. We list income only when a source publishes it; blank means untracked, not zero. Guessing numbers would make every other figure on this site less trustworthy.
How do mutations affect the animal list?
The species list is the base layer; variants modify individuals on top. A Rainbow roll (x20 income, roughly 1 in 200 catches) or INFINITE size (at least 7x) can make an early-zone species out-earn a plain animal from much deeper — which is why tier lists rank species but your slots should rank actual income numbers on screen.
Will the list include exact catch rates for each animal?
Only when reliable data exists. The game doesn't publish spawn tables, and community trackers have verified species-by-zone reliably but not per-animal odds (except the headline Rainbow figures). If a source publishes verifiable rates, this page gets them with attribution — until then, blank beats invented.
